Your garden stays on your phone and Pro uploads in your account; we keep purchase records and measure app use, site visits and ads.
1. What never happens
- Yearbed works without an account.
- App analytics never include your garden's names, notes, tags, zip code, zone, prices, harvests or dates.
- Weather services get only the center point of your zip code, never your account or name.
- We use no advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking. We never sell your data or show ads.
2. Information we handle
2.1 On your device
Yearbed stores your garden records, optional photos, zip code, frost dates and settings. The app keeps this content on your device until you delete everything or uninstall.
2.2 Your account
We use your email address and sign-in records, including an identifier from any sign-in service you choose, to sign you in under our contract with you. Our hosting providers store them, and we keep them until you delete your account. If you sign in, your account keeps what your devices upload with Pro until you delete it or the account. Signing in also links your purchases to your account.
2.3 Purchases
The app store takes payment, and we never see your card. The stores and our purchase-management provider keep receipts and a random customer identifier to unlock and restore Pro, under our contract with you, while your purchase can be restored. On iPhone, they also show which of our App Store ads led to a purchase, under our legitimate interest.
2.4 App usage
We collect how you use the app, errors, performance, device details, how you found the app, approximate location from your IP address and survey answers you send. We use this to improve the app and our marketing, under our legitimate interest. Our analytics providers receive it with a random identifier that can be linked to your purchases, and keep it under their terms.
2.5 Ad measurement
If you arrive from one of our ads, we keep its click identifier and your browser type until we no longer need it to measure that ad, under our legitimate interest. We can report a later purchase to that ad platform.
2.6 Weather and calendar
Pro weather and alerts need your zip code, its center point, time zone and each alerted phone's push token. Our server keeps them under our contract with you until you change them or delete the account. NOAA and the National Weather Service supply weather; Apple and Google deliver alerts.
Anyone with your calendar link can read your sowing windows and reminders from our server until you turn it off.
2.7 Sharing a garden
Both accounts in a shared garden can change it until its owner deletes the account. When sharing ends or either account is deleted, each person keeps their copy, and we cannot remove the other person's.
Species and frost-date updates carry no data about you.
2.8 Our website and analytics
Our hosting providers receive your IP address to deliver our website and keep logs under their terms. App update checks reach the same providers. We also collect pages visited, clicks, referrers, device details, errors, approximate location from your IP address and survey answers you send, to improve the site under our legitimate interest. Our analytics providers keep this under their terms, and a random identifier stays in your browser until you clear site data.
2.9 Support email
When you email us, we use your message to answer you, under our legitimate interest, and keep it until we no longer need it to help you.
3. Storage and transfers
Your data can be processed outside your country under our providers' data-processing terms.
4. Your rights
Where data-protection law applies, you can ask to see, correct, delete, restrict or export your data, object to our use of it and withdraw any consent. You can also complain to a supervisory authority. Email hello@yearbed.com.
5. Children
Yearbed is not directed at children.
6. Changes
We announce data-processing changes in app update notes, and website changes on this page, before new processing begins.
